Post 4: OSS

On my old computer I switched from windows XP to ubuntu and couldn't believe how much better I found it. The start up time was significantly faster then windows and ubuntu was less stressful because I didn't have to worry about virus protection and it felt safer ordering books and records online.

Overall, I like ubuntu better than windows but it does have some major disadvantage. Its no good for editing film or audio and its terrible for gaming, Its also more difficult to run programs designed for windows, although it can be done. The best thing to do is install both operating systems on your computer if its powerful enough, then you can choose what operating system to boot depending on what your going to use your computer for.

Post 3: Content Enrichment in ILS

Content Enrichment in ILS is an important feature that must be included to make sure users are getting the most information out of their online library services. Offering a preview of titles similar to Amazon and Google books is an ideal way to ensure that users can find exactly what they are looking for.

An enriched cataloging system is more useful to patrons then old bare bone records and libraries need to enrich the content of their records to better serve their patrons.

Post one

I never had much difficulty creating this blog and found it enjoyable. One thing I had to research a bit was how to include an RSS icon in my blog, but once I figured that out I was happy with how everything turned out.

I've never generally paid much attention to blogs but after looking into a few I can understand how they can be useful to a library. Blogs are an ideal communicating method for libraries to communicate with their patrons, its another way a library is able to let people know about new books, events, programs, etc. and also gives people the option of leaving feedback on blog posts. By subscribing to a blogs RSS feed you can more easily find information that is relevant to you without wasting your time sifting through countless posts.

What I like about blogs is the information they offer on movies and music that I was unable to find anywhere else. There are so many blogs that are dedicated to just one specific subject and that makes them a great way to connect with like minded people.
